The Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral may have a relatively modern retablo but it isn’t any less impressive. The massive and gilded Cathedral altarpiece houses a crucifix niche flanked by niches of two saints.
Dedicated to early Christian martyr St. Vitalis, the Cathedral was established as the seat of the Bishop when Cebu became one of the suffragan dioceses of the Archdiocese of Manila on August 14, 1595.
